CAFC announce the return of the screen
The Big Screen at The Valley, home of Charlton Athletic Football Club has been reinstated with new hardware and BreamTeam will once again be returning to provide and run the software infrastructure.
After months of hard work behind the scenes, the club has completed a deal to replace the old Jumbotron, which was turned off at the end of last season, with a new big screen.
Charlton chief executive Stephen Kavanagh said: “This is a real statement by the club that we are ambitious to make improvements in all areas.
“No one was happy that we had a big screen in the corner of the stadium that wasn’t working, but it simply wasn’t cost-effective to continue to try to patch it up before every game, and the cost of a replacement was just too much given the club’s financial situation last year.
“We have never stopped working on plans to get the screen back up and running, however, and thanks to a lot of help from a number of people and companies, we are now in a position to start planning for a new screen.”
The innovative software, created and run by BreamTeam, is operated solely by a laptop with dual-screen setup. The background control of the system, including teams, squads, scores, adverts, etc is all managed by BreamTeam’s Goldfish CMS software. Additional features have now also been included to make use of the new technologies available due to the new hardware.
The new screen was announced at a Q&A session with Charlton Chairman Michael Slater and Charlton manager Chris Powell and fans were buoyed by this news.
BreamTeam Managing Director, Dan Bream said: “BreamTeam are delighted that the Big Screen at The Valley is back and we are pleased to be returning to assist with its operation.
“The screen has been sorely missed ever since it was switched off due to the disrepair of the hardware at the end of last season. It provides a great match day experience and also enables important commercial messages to be displayed.”
BreamTeam are working around the clock in order to get the Goldfish CMS powered software updated and operational in time for the next home game against Peterborough United on Saturday, 12th February.
“This will be our fourth consecutive season of running the screen and we are looking to make use of latest technologies to provide an unforgettable match day experience,” said Dan.
Stephen Kavanagh concluded, “We can’t thank enough all those who are contributing to get the new screen installed and back up and running again.
“BreamTeam have given us invaluable assistance, and members of the club’s staff have been working long and hard on this project, so it’s going to be great to see the screen working again.”
